Reviews, freebies and the future

A lot’s happened in the past month, so probably not a bad plan to do a quick update. First up, I got married. Go me. Secondly, I’ve been pushing to get more reviews for The Medicine, as a good number of people giving it the thumbs up goes a long way to helping spread the…

Who wants a free book?

Hey you? Yes you! You like free stuff? Yea? Well you’re in luck, because this weekend there’s a free book on Amazon. Well, I’m sure there’s lots of free books on there, but one in particular that I think you might like. This one:     It’s free for the next few days for anyone…

Kew Gardens: a huge inspiration

Quite a few people have asked me where I got the idea for The Medicine from and I usually give a varied version of the answer found in the book’s acknowledgements. However I don’t think I’ve ever told anyone what really fleshed out the story for me. This first spark of inspiration came when listening…

A month on from publishing…

A little over a month on from self-publishing my first novel, The Medicine where am I am? Home stretch

It looks like The Medicine is finally, almost ready to go on sale. Just a bit more wanking around with Amazon to get the final print proof out to me and then we’re good to go. And I have to finalise my tax immunity with them or they’ll take 30% of my profit. And I…

Getting there

I’ve been going through the whole Amazon Createspace process for a while now – for those that don’t know, it’s Amazon’s print on demand, self publishing business – and it’s been grinding forward at a sedate pace, as they are pretty damn slow at replying. Not the worst ever, but expect at least 48 hours….

It’s alive!

Finally I have a personal website. Having run a professional one for years, it’s quite nice to finally have a space that’s more me. Still, if I want anyone to ever hire me I better keep this at least moderately civil. So welcome to my new site. I hope you find it easily navigable and…
